EXPLANATION OF PAGE CONTENT
(Hyperlinks and Footnotes in above
page are active)
The above image is a sample page from the QMF
and OS/390 sections
of the Combined Starter Kit. It is composed of 3 parts, or columns.
Identities
Column:
Column 2 is the identities column. Through a variety of symbols in this
column, a number of functions or indicators are implemented. Some of the key
symbols are:

|
By clicking on this
hyperlinks icon, you are immediately taken to relevant task information on
the Internet, including manuals, presentations, compatibility
charts, Q&A, contact information, etc. for IBM and 3rd Party
products. |
|

|
By clicking on this
footnote icon, you are presented with a small text window which describes
two or more technical references by manual/presentation name,
section and/or relevant page, and a hyperlink to that location
within the document. |
|

|
When this icon appears,
it indicates the task has been completed. |
|

|
When this icon appears, the task
occurs iteratively, such as weekly. |
More icons may be used, but are usually implemented only in advanced project
plans.
Task Column:
Column 2 is the task name column. Fields in this column contain a description
of the task, as well as any technical or release level information that can be
contained within the space allowed. Release-specific migration tasks are
identified by version and release here.
Gantt Chart:
Column 3 is the Gantt Chart. The Gantt Chart provides a calendar-based
portrayal of how the upgrade progresses over time.
Additional information can be included on a Gantt Chart. In the above chart,
task duration – the time it takes to perform a task – is displayed to the
left of the task. The responsible individual and the percent of the task that
has been completed are displayed to the right. Other fields or calculations can
be displayed via tailoring.
Other Columns:
The Migration Starter Kits keep a wide variety of project information beyond
what is displayed on the above page, which you can display, report, or
manipulate if you so desire. Among the columns of information are:
- Start and finish date.
- Slack time.
- Task work time, or actual person hours required to perform the task.
- Hyperlink URLs.
- Tasks costs and variances.
- Schedule variances.
Reports:
A variety of reports can also be produced from the Migration Starter Kits.
One of the most useful reports (which you can view by clicking on the name) is
called Who Does What.
Some additional reports are:
- Unstarted tasks, tasks in progress, completed tasks, etc.
- Project summary, critical tasks, milestones, etc.
- To-do list, overallocated resources, etc.
- Budget, overbudget tasks, overbudget resources,
etc
