Project Planning and Management
A cornerstone of any successful project is careful
planning and management. At BCS, we've developed MicroSoft Project plan
"Migration Starter Kits" for all of our service offerings (click here for a list
).
These Starter Kits contain most tasks necessary to perform a specific offering; all
that's necessary to tailor a plan to your needs is for us to spend a half day or so
with your staff to:
- Assign responsibilities.
- Add installation-unique tasks.
- Assess project complexity.
- Determine critical dates.
- Define open issues.
- Establish logistics and procedures (email, dial-in,
change control, problem management, etc.).
Another objective of this planning session is to define
project management infrastructure, such as:
- Assigning a project leader and secretary.
- Scheduling status meetings.
- Establishing reporting requirements and deadlines.
- Defining communications processes to other parts of
the organization and aligning this plan to the corporate plan.
While the plan continues to evolve with the project, we
establish basic project design and control at the very start, and follow it
through to project completion.
